DOGGIE TRAVEL GUIDE: LAKE POWELL

Updated: May 13, 2020

We are starting the year out with our Summer Series! We are dreaming of warmer weather, and it's about time to start booking your summer travel plans!

We're sharing all the deets on where to stay, what to do, and where to eat with your best doggie furiends at Lake Powell located between Page, Arizona & Big Water, Utah! And let us tell you - the activities are endless!

Where to Stay

We stayed at the beautiful COURTYARD by Marriott Page at Lake Powell.

First off, the location of this hotel is key! Located in Page, AZ minutes away from the lake, on a golf course, 20 minutes from Antelope Canyon, & 5 minutes from Horseshoe Bend. Not only is it difficult to beat the location of this hotel; it was clean, had a rustic Italian vibe, and of course was very dog-friendly! They were amazing at check-in, making sure we had everything we needed and of course spoiling Miss Wren!

For you pawrents, there's plenty onsite to take advantage of! The pool is heated and they have a hot tub. And since Page is pretty remote, having an onsite restaurant is very important. Once you get back from your daily activities you'll be ready to crash in one of their cozy beds!

Now if you're looking for somewhere a little more exotic to stay...

Stay in a House Boat!

Now we have stayed in a few hotels in the Lake Powell area and we by far recommend the Courtyard Marriott. However, a House Boat is definitely on our bucket list! We haven't had the chance to stay in one yet; manifesting this for 2020🤞! (Please reach out to us if you have any insight) But, here are a few options to look into:

- Lake Powell Resorts & Marina (check the policy under each houseboat)

- Lake Powell Houseboat Rentals (most of their houseboats allow pets!)

What to Do

What I love about the Lake Powell area is that there are so many options for outdoor activities, and endless opportunities for your pup to partake!

Our ultimate fav...anything that floats!

- Rent a boat (or Jeep) from Lake Powell Adventure Rentals!

This family run business went above and beyond to give us the best service ever! They shared incredible spots to check out and dock up. They were extremely communicative (important while out on the lake) and of course loved Miss Wren! They had a shop dog of their own <3. Since Wren is a #doodle, there wasn't an added fee - but make sure to check since wet, shedding dog hair can be messy!

- Kayak or Paddle-board in a Canyon

Now it's important to pick a Canyon with less boat traffic (you don't want your pooch to jump ship)!

Be careful! There are no fences, so if you do decide to bring the dog make sure your dog is 1) good on a leash and 2) nowhere near the edge.

- Visit Glen Canyon National Recreation Area (you can also camp here!)

- Hiking

Things to do without the pup

- Vermilion Cliffs National Park (requires a permit)

Where to Eat & Drink

Restaurants (& bars) are extremely limited around Lake Powell but we tried a few and these are by far the only places I can recommend beyond the hotel restaurant that have pet friendly patios! But do not worry, Page is not a place to eat out. It's more about enjoying time together and spending time outdoors!

Best restaurant in town by far.

On the water - dock your boat up!

- The Marriott Restaurant & Bar

Decent food onsite of hotel for breakfast, lunch, & dinner! This is pet-friendly only if you eat on the patio. So the fluff may have to take a break in the hotel from the exhausting day while you grab a bite!
